A Hattiesburg company is gaining national recognition for its unique home designs.

House Plan Gallery was started in 1996 by George Mathis, who served as the director of the architectural technology program at the University of Southern Mississippi for more than 20 years.

Mathis started the company - where his son Mark Mathis now serves as president and his son Stephen Mathis serves as the vice president - to provide high-quality, affordable stock home designs to local customers, as well as to customers around the United States and Canada.

The company recently received the Most Marketable Designer - Builder Sales and Top 25 Stock Home Designers in America awards, both presented by Hanley Wood - a business-to-business media and information company.

“We feel that House Plan Gallery is very unique in the stock house plans industry due to the fact that each of our designs are entirely based on continual market research, customer feedback and ongoing, industry-related developments, improvements and trends,” Mark Mathis said.

The firm concentrates its energies on designs for homes between 1,000 and 3,000 square feet of living space, in Southern, country, traditional, craftsman, European and French Country architectural styles. The designs come complete with all the most-popular home amenities and floor plan features, Stephen Mathis said.
